I’ve tried Everything, But I Still Have Stretch Marks!

Stretch marks are the lament of many men and women but try as we may, there may be no good remedy for their complete eradication. From ointments to incisions and “tucks”, there are few ways to actually rid the body of the jagged scars caused when the skin stretches past the point of elasticity. Gain or loss of weight and the resulting change in body shape are usually to blame. No matter the causes of stretch marks, their appearance is always an unwelcome decoration on our physique and one which we strive to diminish.

If you are tired of paying for over the counter preparations that claim to erase your scars, it’s time to stop! Most of these applications are only effective before stretch marks develop or minimally effective on those that are newly developed. Somewhat better luck may be experienced with prescription treatments, but these are expensive and also only work to minimize stretch marks.

Treatment of stretch marks with lasers is a popular remedy and can diminish the appearance of the scars by creating pigments to help the scars blend with undamaged skin. More than one treatment is usually required for visible effects to take place from laser applications, but these procedures do not remove stretch marks.

The only known method to completely eliminate the unsightly white or purple marks is traditional scalpel surgery, but due to increased risks, conventional surgeries are unlikely to be performed only for the purpose of stretch mark elimination. Additionally, these surgeries are only practical in conjunction with other scheduled surgery in the same areas where stretch marks appear.
