Safe Stretch Mark Removal

Stretch marks are an ugly part of life that many of us face. Those who suffer from these unsightly blemishes have wondered what can be done about it. Stretch marks are caused by internal tearing of the skin during a time of growing, whether that is during pregnancy, muscle growth or weight gain. They can be on any part of the body, but tend to affect the breasts, stomach, arms, thighs and hips. People have spent thousands of dollars on creams and other treatments hoping to rid themselves of the stretch marks. Pregnant women are a huge target for marketing firms when trying to sell “miracle†creams, because stretch marks are a concern for most pregnant women. Oftentimes these creams do not work. For those who haven’t had any luck with creams or lotions, laser therapy is an excellent route to take.
The introduction of laser therapy and all of its advancements has been a truly wonderful thing for the treatment of stretch marks. There are several different types of laser treatments offered, all of which are able to provide positive results.
Undergoing laser therapy provides satisfactory results with a very small amount of discomfort. The laser triggers collagen and elastin production within the skin by creating tiny injuries to the non-damaged skin around the stretch mark. Those injuries then stimulate the collagen production, healing both the new injury and the previously damaged skin. Laser therapy can be used to treat new and old stretch marks, however older stretch marks are often more difficult to treat.
Laser therapy does have some risks though often rare. For darker skinned people laser therapy poses the risk of hyper-pigmentation, and they are therefore advised against it. Additionally, others may see symptoms of blistering, bruising and swelling at the site of the laser treatment.
